Objective To study the correlation between the lipids, high sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and the extent and severity of angiographic coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients underwent coronary angiography. To evaluate the role of lipids,hsCRP in the diagnosis and prognosis of coronary disease. Methods Nighty patients underwent chest pain were performed coronary angiography. The extent and severity of angiographic CAD was diagnosed by: (1) whether or not CAD was diagnosed by angiography; (2) the number of diseased vessels; (3) the CAD Gensini cumulative index. Twenty cases of them as the control group were normal. Seventy patients with coronary heart disease were divided into single and multiple vessel group. According to the clinical diagnosis, patients were divided into stable angina pectoris and acute coronary syndromes(ACS) groups again. To measure the levels of plasma lipids,hsCRP in all cases.Analyses were achieved by chi-square test and multiple linear regression. Results (1) There were difference of HDL-C,LDL-C,Lp(a) in three groups, there was significantly difference between multiple vessel and control group.(2) HDL-C was decreased with the increase of severity of coronary stenosis,in the opposition to it, LDL-C,Lp(a) were increased.(3) There is more clinical significance in HDL-C,LDL-C and Lp(a) than in TC and TG.(4) The levels ofhsCRP in ACS patients were much higher than those in the SAP and the controls, while the latter two groups did not differ from each other. (5) The levels of hsCRP were no differences existed in single vessel disease, two vessel disease and multiple vessel disease. Conclusion The components of plasma lipids can predict the extent and severity of angiographic CAD,especially HDL-C and Lp(a). HsCRP may be marker of evaluate the stability of plaque. HDL-C and Lp(a) in conjunction with hsCRP can be markers to diagnose and prognosis of patients with coronary heart disease.Postgradute student: Zuo Lu-ning (Cardiology)Directed by Prof. Tao Zhi-gang...
