Objective:To investigate the effects of various levels and types of amblyopia on stereoacuity and the relationship among them.Methods:88 amblyopic children whose ages are 3 to 12 were selected,24 normal children without amblyopia and strabismus were chosen as control group.Refraction, the best corrected visual acuity and corrected stereopsis were measured and evaluated by statistic analysis.Results:①Among the 24 normal children,13 children(54.1%)had normal stereoacuity, while among the 88 amblyopic children,18 children(20.5%) did.②Among the 39 amblyopic children of low level,12 children(30.8%) had normal stereoacuity;Among the 37 amblyopic children of middle level, 6 children(16.2%)did;Among the 12 amblyopic children of high level, no one did.③Among the 24 amblyopic children of ametropic,3 children (12.5%)had normal stereoacuity, while among the 39 amblyopic children of anisometropia 13 children(33.3%)did and among the 25 amblyopic children of strabismus only 2 children(8.0%)did.④The correlation between amblyopia and stereoacuity is the most significant in the ametropic amblyopia, but it dose not exist in the strabismus amblyopia.⑤The correlation between amblyopia and stereoacuity is stronger than the correlation between anisometropia and stereoacuity.Conclusions:①The stereoacuity of amblyopic children is obviously worse than normal children, and the more severe the amblyopia is,the worse is the stereoacuity;stereoacuity is the worst in strabismus amblyopia, followed by ametropic and anisometropia amblyopia in this order.②In strabismus amblyopia, stereoacuity is independent of vision, but is close to the condition of deviation.③The correlation between amblyopia and stereoacuity is stronger than the correlation between anisometropia and stereoacuity.
