Analysis On Sub-health Status Of Medical Students In Guangzhou University Of Chinese Medicine And To Cure By Acupoint Catgut Embedding

Sub-healthy refers to a series of clinical symptoms put forward by the WHO, which is a marginal condition between health and illness and also known as the "third state" or "gray state" . It is a frontier science mixed by medicine, psychology, sociology, philosophy, human sciences and so on. Nowadays, it is common that adults in sub-health. Sub-healthy is an unstable stage between health and illness. Active and effective autoregulation or medical intervention would make health recovering. Vice versa, it would lead to many diseases and accelerating aging. In clinic, doctors always use acupuncture and moxibustion on treating sub-health. But results from the poor compliance, which caused by the busy work and fast life rhythm of the patients, the effect is not idealed. Acupoint catgut embedding has the advantage on simple, accurate, convenient and so on. So, it is a suitable and incomparable therapy on treating sub-health.Objective: (1) To evaluate, observe and analyze the sub-health status of the medical students in our school, and to investigate the correlation between mental and physiological sub-health. We hope to reveal its mechanism of interaction between these two aspects in sub-health. (2)To observe the influence degree of acupoint catgut embedding which as the intervention means in treating sub-health. And to study the essential action of sub-health by this measure. In order to provide a new thought and scientific basis in improving sub-health pertinently.Methods: (1) This subject used the methods of questionnaire research. The questionnaire is made out on the reference of WHOQOL, Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), self-rating depression scale (SDS), diagnostic criteria of subsyndromal symptomatic depression (SSD) and the characteristics of the medical students. With the stratified cluster sampling method, 1000 students are investigated in our school. Through the statistic method, we analyze the correlation between mental and physiological sub-health. (2)After finishing the investigation, 45 volunteers of sub-health in our school are chosen to be treated by the method of acupoint catgut embedding through syndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine. After the treatment course, we make reexamination and data statistics with the same judging standard, and to compare with the investigation results of the first time. In order to observe the intervention degrees of mental and physiological sub-health by acupoint catgut embedding.Results: The average integral of sub-health of medical students in our school is 21.02+8.72, and the percentage is 85.34%. There are significant differences of health condition in the patients' sex, educational background and the highest academic credentials parents' (P<0.01). There are no significant differences of health condition in the patients' major, duty, only child or not and come from different hometown (P>0. 05). Through analyzing, the reason shows that there is correlation between mental and physiological sub-health. And after a course of the treatment of acupoint catgut embedding, we get good curative effect. The total effective rate is 84.4%. Paired t test shows that there is significant (P<0. 05).Conclusion: The results above suggested that there is a positive correlation between mental and physiological sub-health. The acupoint catgut embedding has therapeutic effect on sub-health.
