Recently, more and more people went to see doctors of comprehensive hospitals for the problems of somatic symptoms. During the repeated inspections, we couldn't get the definite diagnosis of diseases. So the treatments of diseases were influenced. The patients suffered a lot and it raised the burdens of the patients, families, society. The somatic symptoms could emerge in various Psychiatric diseases and we can find them in depression and different kind of neurosis. So people attached importance to the somatic symptoms gradually. In these situations, it is significant that we study somatic symptoms and economic burdens of neurosis and depression.In order to find out the related conditions of somatic symptoms and economic burdens of neurosis and depression, this study investigated the patients of neurosis and depression by SCL-90, HAMD, HAMA, SDSS and the investigation questionnaire about features and economic burdens of somatic symptoms produced by ourselves. We learned about the rate of appearance, the features, the treated situations and the influence factors of somatic symptoms. Meanwhile, we explored the relationship between somatic symptoms which existed or not and economic burdens. It is hoped that the abilities of identifying somatic symptoms were improved .It is beneficial to diagnosis and treat those diseases as soon as possible. We try our best to reduce the waste of medical resources.The research results show that the symptoms were obvious in neurosis and depression with somatic symptoms, such as the feeling of oppressed in chest and the blocking in throat. The direct and indirect economic burdens of neurosis with somatic symptoms were more than the economic burdens of neurosis without somatic symptoms. The direct and indirect economic burdens of depression with and without somatic symptoms were about the same. The serious degree of anxiety influences the patients with somatic symptoms. And the serious degree of depression influences the patients with somatic symptoms. With the somatic symptoms or not can be forecasted the direct economic burdens of neurosis. The serious degree of anxiety can be forecasted the indirect economic burdens of neurosis. The income of families can be the factor to evaluate the indirect economic burdens of depression.
