ObjectiveThe serial products of entermorpha, including entermorpha power(EP), chlorella growth factor(CGF) and entermorpha dietary fiber(EPDF),with its activity and physiology functions are investigated including defecation function, immunological regulation, and blood-fat regulation. This study aims to provide theoretical evidence for the further investigation and application of EP products, facilitating the development of EP industry.Methods1,The measurement of the composition of EP products: The contents of the essential component of EP products were measured by the standard technique.2,Study on the acute toxicity testing of EP:In order to assess the acute toxicity of EP, The ICR mice were drenched with EP in the methods of China for toxicological assessment on food safety.3,Study on the effect of EP on the defecation function of mice: The male ICR mice were interfered with EP, EPDF and CGF with three doses for them, i.e., the low dose, the middle dose and the high dose. Using the constipation model created by Compound Diphenoxylate, the effect of EP products on the enterocinesia function of mice was determined by measuring the time of the first defecation, the number of feces in 6 hours, the weight of feces in 6 hours, and the percentage of ink-pushing in the small intestine.4,Study on the effect of EP and CGF on the immunological regulation function of mice: The male ICR mice were interfered with EP and CGF with three doses, i.e., the low dose, the middle dose and the high dose. Using the immunodepression model created by Cyclophosphamide, the effect of EP products on the immunological regulation function of mice was determined by measuring the Spleen index, Thymus index, Clearance index, and Phagocytic index.5,Study on the effect of EPDF and CGF on the blood-fat of rats: The SD rats were interfered with EPDF and CGF with three doses, i.e., the low dose, the middle dose and the high dose. The effect of EPDF and CGF on the blood-fat of rats was determined by measuring the serum TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, and AI.Results1,The compositions of EP products after measuring: In EP, Protein is 21.09%, fat is 1.03%, and DF is 48%; In EPDF, Ashes is 10.2%, water is 10.29%, and DF is 76.88%; and in CGF, Protein is 29.9% and Solvent Polysaccharide is 65.2%.2,The results about the acute toxicity testing of EP: there are no death and no abnormalities in the feeding, urination defecation, color pattern, and action of mice, demonstrating that the EP products are asepsis and safe.3,The effect of EP products on the defecation function of mice: As compared to the model group ,all doses of EP, both middle and high doses of EPDF, and high dose of CGF can cut short the time of the first defecation and increase the percentage of ink-pushing in the small intestine of costive mice (p﹤0.05, the same to the follow); Both middle and high doses of EP and all doses of EPDF can increase the number of feces of costive mice in 6 hours; All doses of EP, all doses of EPDF, and high dose of CGF can increase the weight of feces of costive mice in 6 hours. These results demonstrate that the EP products are good for improving the enterocinesia function.4,The effect of EP and CGF on the immunological regulation function of mice: As compared to the model group, all doses of both EP and CGF can evidently increase the Thymus index, Clearance index, and Phagocytic index. All doses of CGF and both middle and high doses of EP can evidently increase the Spleen index. These results illustrate that the EP products can recover the atrophic immune organ of the mice with low immunity and increase the phagocytosis function of macrophagus.5,The effect of EP products on the blood-fat of rats: As compared to the model group, both middle and high doses of CGF and EPDF can decrease the serum TC; All doses of CGF and both middle and high doses of EPDF can decrease the serum TG; and high dose of CGF can increase the HDL-C; All doses of CGF and both middle and high doses of EPDF can decrease the LDL-C; and all doses of CGF and both middle and high doses of EPDF can decrease the AI. These results illustrate that the EP products are effective in adjusting the blood-fat of rats.ConclusionA series of EP products were edible and safe without toxicity.EP products were effective in improving the enterocinesia function and in adjusting the blood-fat, and they also have an effect on adjusting the immunological function. Therefore, the EP products have great prospects for development and application.
