Objective: Diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome was treated by themethod of adjusting liver and supporting spleen, and syndrome differentiation of diarrheawas the hepatic stagnation and spleen deficiency type. The clinical efficacy and feasibilityof the method of adjusting liver and supporting spleen for the cure of diarrhea-predominantirritable bowel syndromewere were analyzed through observing the clinical efficacy.Method:(1)60patients were chosen by adoption standards and all were up to thediagnostic standard of Rome III, and syndrome differentiation was the hepatic stagnationand spleen deficiency type.60patients were randomly divided into two groups,30patientsas the treatment group and30patients as the control group. There was no significantdifference among the age, sex, course of disease and the total accumulative mark of TCMsymptoms before treatments in two groups, and there had comparability (P>0.05)(2) Thetreatment group was given experienced prescription of adjusting liver and supportingspleen (decocted in water) by tutor, while the control group was given Chinese patentmedicine such as Guchang Zhixie Pills in oral with5grams every time, two times a day.The treatment group and the control group were both given medicine for two courses, fourweeks contributing one course. Based on above examination, the total accumulative markof symptoms before and after treatments in two groups was comparedResults:1. Among30patients in the treatment group, there was12cases for theclinical cure,9cases with marked effect,6cases in effect and3cases without effect, andthe cure rate and effectiveness was70.00%, the total cure rate accounting for90.00%;Among30patients in the control group, there was2cases for the clinical cure,9caseswith marked effect,10cases in effect and9cases without effect, and the cure rate and effectiveness accounted for36.67%, the total cure rate accounting for60.00%. There was avery significant difference in the cure rate and effectiveness between two groups (P<0.01)and a significant difference in the total cure rate between two groups (P<0.05).Improvement of TCM symptom in the treatment group was more superior to the controlgroup.2. There was a significant difference in the accumulative mark between two groups(P<0.05). Two groups could both improve IBS symptom of hepatic stagnation and spleendeficiency type, and the efficacy in the treatment group was more superior to the controlgroup.3. No serious side effect was found during the course of the treatment in two groups. Conclusion: The method of adjusting liver and supporting spleen produced a goodclinical efficacy and was safe with no side effects in improving and eliminating patients’clinical symptoms of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome...
