Partâ… Analysis of the relationship between the polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme gene and the morbidity of lung cancerBackground and Objective Angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE) which was major expressed in vascular endothelial cell of lung and kidney, has the relationship with morbidity of heart, brain and kidney. But recent studies shows that it perhaps contributes to the genesis and growth of malignant tumors. The aim of this study is to explore whether the insertion/deletion polymorphism of ACE is related to the morbidity of lung cancer. Methods A case-control study of 121 patients with lung cancer and 33 cancer-free subjects as a control group was collected. DNA was extracted from the peripheral veinous blood derived from all samples. The ACE genotype of each sample was amplified with PCR.Results The frequencies of II,ID and DD genotype of ACE in lung cancer group were 45.5%,46.3% and 8.2% respectively, and the frequencies of II,ID and DD genotype of ACE in control group were 57.6%,30.3% and 12.1% respectively. The frequencies of I and D genotype of ACE in lung cancer group were 68.6% and 31.4% respectively, and the frequencies of I and D genotype of ACE in control group were 72.7% and 27.3% respectively. There was no significant difference of ACE genotypes or alleles frequencies between the lung cancer and control groups. The OR of ID and DD genotype were 1.158(95%CI:0.325-4.129) and 2.240(95%CI:0.586-8.560) respectively, compared with ACE genotype II by binary logistic regression. Conclusion No relationship is found between the polymorphism of ACE gene and the morbidity of lung cancer. Compared with II genotype, the patients with ID and DD genotype might increase the risk of lung cancer, furthermore the DD genotype has higher risk than ID genotype. Partâ…¡Analysis of the polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme gene in 114 patients with lung cancerBackground and Objective Angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE) which was major expressed in vascular endothelial cell of lung and kidney, has the relationship with morbidity of heart, brain and kidney. But recent studies show that it perhaps contributes to the genesis and growth of malignant tumors. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the polymorphism of ACE and the factors of different clinical and pathological characteristics in patients with lung cancer. Methods DNA was extracted from the peripheral veinous blood derived from 114 lung cancers patients. The ACE genotype of each sample was amplified with PCR.Results The frequencies of II,ID,DD genotype of ACE in patients with lung cancer were 43.0%,48.2%,8.8% respectively. The frequencies of I and D allele were 67.1% and 32.9% respectively. The distribution of ACE genotypes and alleles has no obviously difference in different clinical and pathological characteristics(p>0.05). The frequency of D allele in N0,N1 and N2 category was 28.0%,34.0% and 40.3%.Conclusion No dependablity is found between the polymorphism of ACE gene and tumor progression and metastasis of lung cancer, and the factors of different clinical and pathological characteristics have no obviously influence to the expression of ACE genotypes and alleles. The D allele maybe influence the growth or metastasis of lung cancer.
