Objective: To study the status of the entry-exit prohibited infection diseases, and the imported medical vector at Kunshan Port. To put forward feasible and operable countermeasures and proposals for reducing the risk of the infectious diseases to a minimum.Methods: Reorganize and analysis the monitor data of the entry-exit peoples'infectious diseases in Kunshan region from August 2000 to December 2006, and of all the containers from which medical vectors were intercepted at Kunshan Port from January 2004 to December 2006, to look for the basic laws of the entry-exit prohibited infection diseases, and of the imported medical vectors'changes in categories, quantity and distribution. By referring the relevant literature, understand the current status of the monitoring work about the entry-exit people's infectious diseases and the control of the imported medical vectors in inspection and quarantine system in our country.Results: The number of the entry peoples in Kunshan who accept infectious diseases monitoring each year presents a rapidly rising trend, and the crowd are mostly from Taiwan and the Southeast Asian regions. The entry-exit prohibited infection diseases are focused on the businessmen and technical staffs who infect HIV and syphilis through sexual transmission, and 74% of them are middle-aged or young male people and have an entry-exit record more than once. This part of people should be the focal objects of monitoring. HIV and syphilis are mainly input in Kunshan. The most of persons with HIV and syphilis in Kunshan was foreigers.Entry containers present a swift growth tendency in Kunshan Port. Imported medical vectors intercepted are mainly from the entry containers, which number and rate of their being intercepted increases rapidly. They include five categories as mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies, midge and rat, mainly are the mosquitoes, cockroaches and flies. These three categories must be as the focal objects monitoring. The source places are distributed in 19 countries and regions, including Taiwan accounted for 53.23%. Entered containers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and other Southeast Asian countries and regions should be as the focal objects of monitoring. Overall, the number of containers from which the medical vectors are intercepted concentrates in October, November and December in every year.Conclusion: It is insufficient in the current monitoring of infectious diseases and controlling of the medical vector. Firstly, the infectious diseases monitor and the containers control should be strengthened; Secondly, we should strengthen the capacity-building, improving the capabilities and level of monitoring; Thirdly, propaganda and prevention education should be strengthened to improve the entry-exit peoples'awareness of self-protection; Fourthly, we must strengthen communication and cooperation of the port relevant departments to improve the port epidemic diseases prevention system; Fifthly, we must proceed a risk analysis and sort management, to perfect the emergency warning mechanism, and enhance the response and handling capabilities; The sixth, the sanitary disposal supervision should be strengthened to improve its level; The seventh, the Inspection and Quarantine laws, regulations and standards about infectious disease monitoring and containers should be revised and perfected.
