Background and objectiveCP is one of the common diseases of the young and middle-aged men, and it is also the most common urological diseases for the men under the age of 50. At present there are many ways to treat CP, but the effect is often unsatisfactory. Now there are many Chinese patent medicines to cure CP, but many belong to empirical treatment, lack of experimental evidence. This study used a randomized and double-blind clinical trials, and cured the CP patients with Qianliejiedujiaonang and Lufloxacin. We evaluated the clinical effect by observing changes of the patients in the NIH-CPSI score and in the WBC count before and after the treatment, so as to provide some effective ways in treatment of CP.Methods80 patients with CP were equally randomized into a Qianliejiedujiaonang group and a control group, both treated for 4 weeks. The former were given Qianliejiedujiaonang combined with Lufloxacin. The latter received placebo combined with Lufloxacin. All the patients were evaluated by NIH-CPSI and EPS examination.RusultsAfter 4-week treatment, total score of NIH-CPSI, and the score of pain, voiding symptoms and the quality of life dropped significantly in both groups compared with pre-treatment (P < 0.05 or 0.01), so did the leukocyte count in EPS (P < 0.05). After 4-week treatment, total score of NIH-CPSI, and the score of pain, voiding symptoms and the quality of life dropped significantly in the Qianliejiedujiaonang group compared with the control Group (P < 0.05 or 0.01 ), except the leukocyte count in EPS (P> 0.05).ConclusionQianliejiedujiaonang combined with Lufloxacin is highly effective for CP, by relieving pain and voiding symptoms, decreasing the leukocyte count in EPS andimproving the life quality of the patients.
