Quality Of Vision After Tecnis Z9001 Aspherical Intraocular Lens Implantation

Objective:1.To investigate the safety and effectiveness of TecnisZ9001 in treatment of phacoemulsification for the patients with age-related cataract.2.To investigate the difference of contrast sensitivity and best corrected visual acuity between two kinds of IOL:TecnisZ9001 and AcrysofSA60AT IOL.Methods:1.Thirtyfour age-related cataract patients(36 eyes)at the age of 50 to 80 years old were selected and received preoperative examinations of cataract surgery.Meantime,they were classified randomly into two groups and treated with phacoemulsification.One group was implanted an intraocular lens with a modified anterior surface(TecnisZ9001,AMO)and the other group was implanted an IOL with biconvex spherical surfaces(Acrysof SA60AT,ALCON). All patients accepted phacoemulsification combined with implantation of IOL control by one doctor.2.Three months after operation,the best corrected visual acuity and contrast sensitivity were collected in all patients.3.The indexes were analyzed by SPSS12.0 Statistics software,and the indexes of two groups were compared with T test or x~2 test.Results:1.34 patients were examined at all follow-up visits.No complication was found operatively and postoperatively.No posterior capsule opacification(PCO),IOL decentration and apparent tilt were founded.2.The best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)of Tecnis group after 3 months was 0.89±0.17,while the AcrysofSA60AT group was 0.76±0.16.BCVA of both groups were significantly improved.But Tecnis group got better BCVA than AcrysofSA60AT group(P=0.02).3.The diameter of pupil in the physiologically or mydriasis was no difference in statistics significance between the two groups after postoperatively 3 months.4.As for physiologically dilated pupil,there was no significant difference in contrast sensitivity between the two groups.After mydriasis,contrast sensitivity in log unit at 12,18cpd in Tecnis group were significantly higher than those in AcrysofSA60AT group under photopic condition(P＜0.05).Contrast sensitivity at 1.5 cpd and 3cpd in Tecnis group were significantly higher than those in AcrysofSA60AT group under mesopic condition(P＜0.05)Conclusion:1.It is one of effective ways to combine phacoemulsification with Tecnis Z9001 aspherical intraocular lenses implantation for treatment of age-related cataract.2.Tecnis Z9001 aspherical intraocular lenses is superior to AcrysofSA60AT group in terms of best corrected visual acuity and contrast sensitivity.Tecnis group gets better visual performance.It may have advantages over traditional spherical IOLs in patients with large pupils.
