Objective: To study the relationship between the interleukin-6 and the advanced colorectal cancer associated with hypoalbuminaemia .Methods: According to the concentration of empty stomach blood albumin (detected by BCG method the day after the patients were in hospital) whether was below 35g/L, Divided the specimens into hypoalbuminaemia group and nonhypoalbuminaemia group. RT-PCR semi-quantity method was used to detect the expression of IL-6 mRNA in the two groups. Results: The expression of IL-6 mRNA in hypoalbuminaemia group was significantly higher than nonhypoalbuminaemia group (P=0.000), but was not expressed in the paired normal tissues of the both two group. Conclusion: It suggests that IL-6 by affecting the body intake, discard and metabolism albumin, play an important role in the genesis and development of advanced colorectal cancer hypoalbuminaemia.
