Clinic Study Of Needle Warming Moxibustion On Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome i.e. Insulin Resistance is a symptom complex that is characterized as several diseases of metabolism happened at the same time. The basis of its pathophysiology are centrality obesity, diabetes mellitus or the abnormal of glucose tolerance, high bloodpressure, dyslipoproteinemia and IR. The raise of quantity of our life, the adjustion of the structure on food and drink and the increase of work pressure cause the metabolic disturbance of glucide and lipoid. So MS is often taken place in modern society and it is a kind of diease of lifestyle. Every diease that composed of MS could raise the fatalness of cardiovascular disease. The rate of deformity and the fatality rate are both high. In that case, more and more scholar began to attach importance to the prevention and treatment of MS.Acupuncture is the most important part of TCM. Under the guidance of concept of wholism, the same treatment on different diseases, cure the disease before it happened, acupuncture display advantages to raise the healing efficacy, deduce side effects and prolong the duration of validity.TCM discovered that phlegm-dampness constitution has a consanguineous relationship with MS. This study divided 60 cases into 3 groups. Team A is treated by needle warming moxibustion, group 2 is treated by acupuncture only and group 3 is treated by western medicine. The course of treatment is 3 months. The mainly points are Zhongwan, Shenque , Guanyuan, Sanyinjiao and Pishu, Addition to the basic medicate, choose 2 points which on Ren meridian to do the moxibustion of the group A. And group B only do the acupuncture on above points (except Shenque). Group C only do with the western medicine. Observe the index of MS and the change of phlegm-dampness constitution.Results:1. Group A can imrove the central indexes of MS. Group B and group C can improve part of the indexes. The total efficiency of group A is 90%, Group B is 70%, Group C is 60%. By comparition, the effective rate of group A is obviously higher than the group B and group C. ( P<0.05);2. The phlegm-dampness constitution has improved of the three groups. The total efficiency of group A is 96. 43%, the total efficiency of group B is 66. 67% and the group C is 35%. After processed by statistics, the improvement of phlegm-dampness constitution of group A is the best among the three group.3. The group A has much more obvious effection on inducing waistline, Lowering glucide and lipoid and improving phlegm-dampness constitution than other groups. Group C has little effection in improving phlegm-dampness constitution.Conclusion:Needle Warming Moxibustion is a safe and effective method to cure MS. It could improve index of MS and the fphlegm-dampness constitution. Its effect mechanism is acting on MS's various targets and taches. The assured mechanism still need more studis. It offer a new idea and method of treating MS with TCM.
