Objective: To study the etiology of infected corneal ulcer,features incidence,different kind of clinical treatment. Inorder to provide the scientific basis for preventing blindness caused by infected corneal ulcer .Method: 84cases(91eyes) of the infected corneal ulcer from March 1995 to August 2007 were collected and retrospectiveanalysis performed. Mechanism and risky factors of different etiology was analyzed. Different ways of clinical treatment were compared and the prognosis evaluated.Result:Among the 91eyes, 48 were bacterial keratitis, and 26 were viral keratitis,4eyes were fungal keratitis,The other 13 eyes couldn't be diagnosed by laboratory examination. 50 cases were males, and 34 cases females.47cases were farmers,herdsmen or workers ,15cases were retired personnel ,14 were cadres, the other 8 cases engaged in other jobs . Among the 84 cases,there were 24cases(28.57%)caused by trauma, 13 cases(15.48%) were significantly prior to the onset of cold, 5cases(5.95%) caused by contact lenses,42cases found no obvious causes. 65(71.43%) eyes were treated by simple drug therapy,35 eyes,the vision acuity was increased.26 eyes(28.57%) were treated by the combined surgery. 7 eyes undertook keratoplasty ( 4eyes undertook penetrating keratoplasty,3eyes undertook lamellar keratoplasty).7eyes were cured(100%),6eyes'the vision acuity was increased.5eyes undertook conjunctival flap covering,1eye was cured. 5eyes undertook amniotic membrane transplantation,1eye was cured and vision acuity was increased.Conclusion: Infected corneal ulcer done great harm,and is a common blinding eye disease. Should focus on prevention, early diagnosis, treatment formal. Active and effective treatment for patients with visual function to save is very important.
