Objective To analyze the psychological state of coronary heart disease patients, approach the role of cytokines in the mechanism of coronary heart disease with depression by measurement the level of serum interleukin-6( IL-6) in the coronary heart disease patients with depression. Methods Collect 90 cases of coronary heart disease patients to do ZUNG self-rating depression scale (SDS) , according to score were divided into coronary heart disease with depression group(A group) and coronary heart disease without depression group(B group), at the same time determinate the level of serum IL-6 by using radioimmunoassay method, and recorded the common information for age, gender, smoking, education, diabetes, hypertension history etc., determine the other related materials, for C-reactive protein, lipid levels, left ventricular internal diameter at the end-diastolic,left ventricular ejection fraction etc. Results 57.78% of selected patients of coronary heart disease with varying degrees of depression, mild depression patients were 24 people, accounting for 26.67 %, in moderate and severe depression patients were 28, accounting for 31.11%; 57.59% of male patients with depression, and 57.89% of women patients with depression ,the prevalence rate of depression in between patients male and female no significant differences (P<0.05); The levels of serum IL-6 in the A group〔M(P25,P75)〕were〔0.04(0.01,0.06)〕ng/ml,B group were〔0.02(0.01,0.05)〕ng/ml,A group were significantly higher than the B group (P<0.05);In the A group , the levels of serum IL-6 in moderate and severe depression patients were〔0.05(0.02,0.08)〕ng/ml higher than in patients with mild depression〔0.04(0.01,0.05)〕ng/ml,(P<0.05);In the A group the serum IL-6 levels was positively correlated with cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein,C-reactive protein and left ventricular internal diameter at the end-diastolic(P<0.05),negatively correlated with left ventricular ejection fraction (p<0.05), no obvious correlation with triglyceride and high-density lipoproteins. In the B group serum IL-6 levels were no obvious correlation with cholesterol,triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein,high-density lipoproteins C-reactive protein, left ventricular internal diameter at the end-diastolic and left ventricular ejection fraction .Conclusion The rates of depression in the coronary heart disease patients were higher than the general population, the level of serum inflammatory markers in coronary heart disease patients with depression were higher than coronary heart disease patients without depression; In moderate, severe depression patients with higher levels of inflammatory markers than in mild depression patients. Depression is a sign of activation of inflammatory responses, inflammatory responses play an important role in coronary heart disease with depression and the prognosis of coronary heart disease .
