Objective: To investigate status of the QOL and social support of old People of the community in Urumqi and their influencing factors. To analyze the correlationship between quality of life and social support of old People. This study will provide theoretical support to further nursing interventional research. Methods: By using multi-stage random cluster sampling, a total of 1328 old People over 60 years old from 8 communities in Urumqi, xinjiang were surveyed, including general information, the medical outcomes study 36-Item Short Form health survey (SF-36) and the Social Support Review scale (SSRS). Results: 1) General conditions: The mean age of the old People was 68.80±7.16;65.96 % old People were suffering from chronic diseases; The top three disease they suffer from were hypertension?Coronary Heart Disease and diabetes; 2) The mean score of QOL of the old People in communities was 113.58±15.18, good, moderate and poor QOL respectively accounted for 37.65%?56.78%?5.57%. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the main influencing factors of QOL of old People were educationed level, health status, marital status and social support; 3) The mean score of the social support of the old People in communities was 37.68±7.02, higher than the Chinese norm(P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the main influencing factors of social support of old People were age and whether chronic diseases; 4) The QOL and social support were significantly positively correlated (r=0.168, P<0.01). Conclusions: the old People in the community were experiencing middle and high degree of the QOL and social support; There were several influencing factors to the QOL and social support of old People, so the old People should be carried out for different community care; scored higher social support in the community, the better the QOL of old People.
