Objective To investigate the status and relationship of Quality of life(QOL), fasting blood glucose(FBG), depression, social support and self-care activities of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(DM) in community, find the influencing factors that can be intervened. To bring forward pertinent intervention strategies of QOL for DM in community in order to provide theoretical evidence and practical guidance. To recommend suggestion and measures to Administrative Department to improve QOL of DM.Methods The study had two parts. The first part was a cross-sectional, questionnaire survey of Type 2 DM from some community of Jinan. A self-designed demology data questionnaire, WHO-BREF, Self-Rating Depression Scale, Social Support Rating Scale and Revised SDSCA Scale were used. FBG was examined by a mini-instrument. Diabetic subjects were compared with demology data matched controls from standard population sample. Subjects with malign tumors, mental disease, idiot, disturbance of consciousness and other non-diabetic serious diseases were excluded. All data were calculated by SPSS 10.0. QOL between two groups was compared by multivariate ANOVA. The relationships between factors and QOL were analyzed by Pearson correlation and multiple regression.The second part was an interview study. Fourteen subjects with more than two years of DM from the first part were included according objective sampling. Data were analyzed by categorization.Results The first part: 1. Each of the Diabetic and control subjects was 112. QOL of DM group was lower than that of the control group, P<0.01.
