Objective: To study the blood glucose in prognosis evaluation during acute pancreatitis (AP) admission. Methods: The Ranson standard, Balthazar CT grading system were respectively performed for a retrospective analysis in 199 AP patients, and the patients were diagnosed as severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) when Ranson standard≥3 score and Balthazar CT grading reached grade D or E. At the same time, the blood glucose, age, gender, etiopathogenisis and complications were also recorded, according to analyses the correlation among blood glucose and indexes mentioned above to understand the relation between blood glucose and AP prognosis. Results: Among 199 patients, 19 were diagnosed as SAP and 180 as minute acute pancreatitis( MAP). The mean blood glucose in SAP is13.07±3.23 mmol/L, was significantly higher than MAP(8.37±3.84)mmol/L. The blood glucose were linearly correlated with Ranson score, hospitalization fee, Balthazar CT grade, CTSI score and complication respectively(r=0.610,0.356,0.271,0.324,和0.334,P<0.01). Conclusion: The blood glucose when hospital admission was positively correlated with the severity of AP, reflect the AP severity and probably will be an effective index for AP prognosis evaluation.
