Objective: To expose the condition, the rule and the new changing tendency of the HBV infection among the sample college students, present the conclusion and recommendations for setting down positive and effective controlling and intervention strategy, effectively controlling the HBV infection on campus. Methods: The research data source of this paper is from total 6052 freshmen from 1999 to 2006 in some college in Anhui, who received medical check-up soon after entering the college, including the check-up of HBsAg. Students with HBsAg(+) received the further check-up of HBsAg, HBsAb, HBeAg, HBcAb, HBeAb, ALT and AST. The medical check-up of the freshmen also included that of the blood type. Based on the original check-up result of the freshmen, this paper is to make descriptive and comparative statistic analysis of the data according to different register times, origins and sexes. Results: 1. The HBsAg positivity rate of the freshmen in the past 8 years has been 4.41% and close to the average of the whole country, yet with a downtrend. 2. The HBsAg positivity rate of male freshmen is much higher than that of female freshmen. 3. The HBsAg positivity rate of the freshmen from rural areas is much higher than that of the freshmen from urban areas. 4. The blood types have no definite relations with the infection of HBV. 5. The main serum marker patterns of the HBV infection are HBsAg +HBeAg+HBcAb and HBsAg+HBeAb+HBcAb. 6. The serum marker patterns of the HBV infection in urban areas are obviously different from those in rural areas, with the infection in rural areas more serious than in urban areas. 7. The serum marker patterns of the HBV infection among male freshmen and female freshmen have no difference, but the detection rate of the main serum marker of the male is higher than that of the female, which contributes to the statistic analysis. 8. The HBeAg detection rate of the freshmen from rural areas and the freshmen with HBsAg (+) from rural areas is much higher than that of urban areas freshmen. Conclusion: 1. The infection and spread of HBV is a serious public health problem, which must be attached much importance to and taken positive preventive measures on. 2. Hepatitis B vaccine, which is the most economical and effective preventive measure, can effectively prevent and control the infection and spread of HBV. 3. The injection and coverage rate of hepatitis B vaccine has significant influence on the infection and spread of HBV. 4. The freshmen from rural areas are the most serious disaster areas of the infection and spread of HBV. The control of the infection and spread of HBV among freshmen from rural areas has positive influence on that among freshmen on campus. 5. Different physical conditions and living habits of male freshmen and female freshmen make the male's HBsAg positivity rate much higher than that of the female. Therefore, the infection and spread of HBV among male freshmen should be paid more attention to and more effectively controlled. 6. Students with HBsAg(+) are the main infection origins. Therefore, the most important measure to control the infection and spread of HBV is to strengthen the management and education of the freshmen with HBsAg(+). 7. Students with abnormal ALT must be treated on time positively. 8. Multi-layer intervention strategies and measures established according to different infection origins, different infection routes and more easily infected groups can control effectively the infection and spread of HBV on campus.
