Objective:Retinal detachment(RD) is a common disease in the department of Ophthalmology and is one of the most importmant reseason for visual loss.According to the etiological factor, there are four types: rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD).tractional retinal detachment. rhegmatogenous and tractional retinal detachment and exudative retinal detachment.RRD is the most common.Closing the slit pores through operation is still the key to cure RD.But as far as we know, the operation is not perfect.About 10% patients need a second operation. The common reasons for the failure of the operation include the slit pores are not totally closed, new slit pores developed and proliferative vitreous retinopathy (PVR)formation. But there are still some cases that the slit pores are closed well through operation and there are no new slit pores and PVR,the fluid under retina is not absorption in three days after operation. The reason for that has not been reported before. My study analyses one of the underlying reasons for the unabsorption of the fluid under retina in three days after operation for RRD in a new view point—studying the relationship between the adrenalin and the absorption of the fluid under retina after operation for RRD to direct the clinical practice and improve the success rate.Method:Using case control method,we analyse 42 cases of RRD from the eye hospital of the second hospital of JiLin university during 2006 and 2007.The age of the cases is between 19 and 62.And the average age is 37.1.There are 19 male cases and 23 female cases. There are 19 cases experiencing vitrectomy and 23 cases scleral buckling. The slit pores are well closed ,there are no new slit pores and PVR and the intraocular tension is normal after operation. The fluid under the retina is absorption between 1 day and 1 month. The cases above haven't experienced the second operation and the reattachment of retina is good during the half year follow up.According to the absorption time of the fluid under retina, the cases are divided two groups- group A and group B.In the early morning,we draw the venous blood on an empty stomach and centrifuge it immediately and collect the serum and preserve it in -20℃for examination. After the specimen collection is over,we use the kit of 125I-Radioimmunoassay for the quantitative determination of adrenaline in plasma to determine the concentration of the adrenaline. The kit is from Biosource in Belgium.Collect the data and use the SPSS13.0 statistics software to analyse the data and arrive at the conclusion finally.Result: The adrenaline concentration of the group A is higher than the group B before operation, the difference is not significant. The adrenaline concentration of the group A is higher than the group B after operation, the difference is significant. In group A,the adrenaline concentration of male group is higher than female group after operation, and the difference is significant. Conclusion: There is dependability between the adrenaline in blood and the absorption of the fluid under retina after operation for RRD and there is sex differences for this dependability.
