Objective: To study the immune regulation of stop quiver capsule in treating Parkinson's disease.Methods: The gene and protein expression levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-αin the normal control group, model group induced by MPTP and stop quiver capsule treated group were determined using RT-PCR and ELISA. Moreover, the effect of stop quiver capsule on lymphocyte proliferation was determined by Lymphocyte transformation test.Results: Compared with the normal group, the expression levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-αmRNAs in PD model group brain were increased, among them very significant change of TNF-αwas found (P<0.01), while the gene expressions of IL-1βand IL-6 were significant(P<0.05). Compared with PD model group, the expressions of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-αmRNAs in stop quiver capsule treated group were all decreased to near the normal level, and there were significant variability. The rate of lymphocyte proliferation was increased in stop quiver capsule group compared to the normal group.Conclusion: Stop quiver capsule played the negative regulatory roles at the level of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-αmRNA expressions in PD brain, which suggesting that stop quiver capsule can treat the PD.
