Ureteroscope U100 Laser Lithotripsy On Treatment Of Ureteral Calculi (Report Of 541 Cases)

In recent twenty years, with the development of endoscopic lithotripsy and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL), the most patients haven't need to receive the traditional open surgery for urinary tract calculi. ureteroscopy lithotripsy (URL),percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) and ESWL became the predominant modern treatments together for urinary tract calculi. Ureteral calculi is one of the common urologic diseases, and sometimes results in hydronephrosis , renal function lesion or even renal failure. Ureteroscope laserlithotripsy ,which can treat both anuria and renal failure due to bialateral ureteral calculi obstruction, is safer , more effective, shorter length of stay and lower complication than open surgery, and now became one of the widespread mini-invasion treatments. Ureteroscope lithotripsy developed from ultrasonic, electrohydraulic, pneumatic to laser lithotripsy, the W.O.M frequency doubled double pulse Nd :YAG laser U100 is a new technique for clinical application for recent years. In order to research efficacy of W.O.M laser U100,this study summarized it on treatment of ureteric calculi by 541 cases.Objective:To report the efficacy of lithotripsy with laser U100 on treatment of ureteric calculi ,and discuss the failure reasons and complications.Methods:To summarize and analyze 541 cases of in patients in the urological department of the second affiliated hospital of nanchang university between February 2003 and October 2006.Results:The success rate of U100 laserlithotripsy on treatment of ureteric calculi was 91.3%(494/541), and the success rate of upper , mid-lower ureter was 85.1%(177/208), 95.2%(317/333)respectively, the rate of upper ureter was higher than mid -lower obviously (P<0.05). At one week, the total stone-free rate was 86.0%(425/494), and the rate of upper, mid-lower ureter was 78.0%(138/177),90.5%(287/317) respectively. the stone-free rate of upper ureter was higher than mid-lower evidently(P<0.05).The complications including three ureter perforation, no other complications appeared including ureter segmentation or inner membrane avulsion.Conclusions:Ureteroscope U100 laser lithotripsy is a safe , high-effective endourological treatment, owing to high lithotripsy efficacy , satisfactory stone-free rate, low complications ,minimal invasion ,short hospital stay and fast recovery.
