Birth defect is the leading cause for the infant mortality, and the survival will also bring great economic and mental pressure to the family and the nation, and at the same time the promotion of population quality. To reduce the occurrence of birth defects, it is of great importance to make clear what the causing factors are and how they work. Focused on the environment factors which affect the occurrence of birth defects, the following research was conducted:To deal with the geographical environment data, Correlation Analysis,contingency table analysis and elastic net were used to detect correlation between geographical environmental factors and the prevalence of birth defects (or the number of birth defect babies), we wanted to find out the dangerous factors of birth defect. By Elastic net we got a cluster result and these clusters always had their own characters, so we can find out which is the more dangerous factor among these geographical environmental factors. We also give a map of these clusters' spatial distribution, and we can find out where are the more dangerous areas about birth defect using this map.This paper had used main technology as fellow:1) To preapare data for analysis, this paper intergrate and aggregate multi-source heterogeneous data which was taken village as a unit. In order to cluster analysis category data(cluster analysis), this paper introduce dummy variable theory and method to deal with it.2) This paper analysised the birth defects data and the natural environment by statistic analysis and testing(It used correlation analysis to deal with ratio scale data and used to deal with nominal scale data)3) To cluster analysis birth defects data, this paper used elastic net, and explained the result of elastic net analysis.Then, the result was introduced into GIS which would give a risk map based on the result.The following conclusions were drawn which may help to find out the dangerous factors of birth defects: 1) There is a strong relationship between the number of birth defect babies and their population. This paper gives a risk maps to illustrate this situation.2) Soil type may be a risk factor of birth defect, there are two kinds of soil distribution have more birth defects. So it's necessary to survey to find out the characters of these two kinds of soil.3) Stratum also have influences to birth defect, especially Quaternary,Permian and Ordo, and one place have several kinds of stratum also might caught higher birth defect.4) The distance between fault and birth defect has negative correlation with birth defect, so how fault impact human health is important and it is needed to find out.5) The more nearer to the collieries a country is, the higher risk of birth defect it would be, and the more collieries it has, the higher risk of birth defect if it would be. So the pollution of collieries' mining is a very dangerous factor.6) There are also strong correlation between birth defect and social economic factors, especially the vegetable production,fruit production and fertilizer using..
