Back ground: Lung cancer is the common malignant tumor with a risk to human health, whose morbidity and mortality is increasing rapidly. And non-small lung cancer takes a proportion of more than 80 percentage. Diffusion and metastasis is the important cause of cancer-related deaths. Though obvious improvement has been achieved in diagnostic and therapeutic research of lung cancer, most of lung cancer patients were diagnostic as advanced stage. The treatment of appeasable surgery and chemoradiotherapy did not significantly improve survival time of advanced NSCLC patients. It is a key task for cancer research to search novel prognostic marker, improve early diagnostic rate, and new target of moleculartargeted therapy of lung cancer.Objective:1. To investigate expression of EGF and EGFR in 101 cases of NSCALCand 46 cases of benign lung lesions, and discuss the different expression.2. To discuss the relationship between the expression of EGF and EGFR and various clinicopathological parameters of gastric cancer.3. To analyze the relationship between the expression of EGF and EGFR. 4. To analyze the relationship between the expression of EGF or EGFR andsurvival time of NSCLC.Methods:1. To collect 101 cases of NSCLC and 46 cases of lung benign lesions withfollow-up and clinicopathological data.2. To detect the expression of EGF and EGFR in NSCLC and benign lung lesions by immunohistochemistry assay of LSAB.3. To statistically analyze the relationship between EGF and EGFR expression and various clinicopathological parameters using SPSS 13.0.Results:1. The positive expression rates of EGF and EGFR in non-small cell lung cancer were significantly higher than those in pulmonary benign lesion tissues(P<0.01).2. The positive expression of EGF protein was significant in respect to the stage of patients(P<0.05).The positive expression of EGFR was very significant in respect to the stage of patients(P<0.01),and it was significant in respect to the histological classification stage of NSCLC(P<0.05).3. The expression of EGF was highly positive correlated with the expression of EGFR in non-small cell lung cancer(r=0.540,P<0.05).4. The 5-year survival rate of the group that highly expressed EGF or EGFR was significantly higher than the group with low expression (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. A high expression of EGF and EGFR existed in non-small cell lung cancer. 2. The expression of EGF was significant in respect to the stage of patients. The expression of EGFR was highly significant in respect to the stage of patients, and it was significant in respect to the histological classification stage of NSCLC.3. There was a highly positive correlation between the expression of EGF and EGFR, which suggested that a autocrine cirle of EGF and EGFR existed in NSCLC.4. To detect the expression of EGF and EGFR in NSCLC is helpful to predict the prognosis of patients with those disease.
