Survey Of Aeroallergens In Patients With Allergic Rhinitis In Chengdu

[Objective] To survey which aeroallergens were prevalent in patients with allergic rhinitis in Chengdu .[Method] 2000 outpatients who were doubted with allergic rhinitis by otolaryngologist in Huaxi hospital underwent skin prick test with 10 standardized aeroallergens (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides farinae; Animal Hair, Feathers, Grasses, Herbs, Moulds I, Moulds II, Tree I , Tree II). The patients were divided into eight age groups(0-10 years, 11-20 years, 21-30 years, 31-40 years, 41-50 years, 51-60 years, 61-70 years, beyond 70 years). To compare the difference of skin prick test responses of eight age groups.[Result] The total amount of patients who had positive skin prick test were 1012. 114 patients had allergic rhinitis and asthma. The percent of positive skin prick test response of 10 aeroallergens were follow: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus 88.14%, Dermatophagoides farinae 85.77%, Hair I 50.69%, Hair II 46.25%, Grasses 47.73%, Herbs 55.73%, Moulds I 45.45%, Moulds II 45.55%, Tree I 40.02% , Tree II 40.32%. Most patients had positive skin prick test response of multiallergen. The prevalence of allergic rhinitis was related to age , not to gender in this survey.[Conclusion] The skin prick test sensitivity of allergic rhinitis was 50.6% in Chengdu . The percent of allergic rhinitis and asthma was 11.26%. Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae were the most common allergens. The prevalence of positive skin prick test response was, in decreasing order: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides farinae, Herbs, Hair I, Grasses, Hair II, Moulds, Tree. Allergic rhinitis was most common in children and youngs(≤40 years).
