| Objective: Oxaliplatin (L-OHP) is the third generation of platinum drugs, widelyused in gastrointestinal cancer, ovarian cancer and non-small cell lung cancer in recentyears, often combine with 5-fluorouracil as effective regimens for advanced colorectalcancer. The common side effects include peripheral neuropathy, owing to the lack ofprecise control, causing many patients to the pain. The purpose of this study was toobserve the prophylactic effect that GuiLong TongLuo Fang prevent the side effects ofoxaliplatin peripheral neuropathy and to fred effective prevention methods for it.Methods:Firstly,We use neuron-specific enolase (NSE) immunocytochemistry andNSE-ELISA methods to observe the contribution of consumption of natural death beforethe side dorsal root ganglion (Dorsal Root Ganglion. DRG) neurons in vitro survival andneurite growth and activity after GuiLong TongLuo Fang,offering cell biologyexperiments for the clinical application.84 gastrointestinal cancer patients were collected from tumor center of WeifangTraditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from July 1, 2003 to October 1 2006, 54 patientswere collected from Shandong Tumor Hospital form October 2005 to October 2006.120patients were evaluable.All patients were randomly divided into two groups:69 cases in theFOLFOX chemotherapy cancer combining with GuiLong TongLuo Fang; the controlgroup of 51 cases use chemotherapy alone. Neurotoxicity, the quality of life, treatment, thegeneral toxicity of chemotherapy and other indicators will be observed. SPSS 10.0software were processed. This study is to explore the role of GuiLong TongLuo Fang inthe treatment of advanced gastrointestinal cancer with FOLFOX. Results: (1) Basic experiment showed that the AF and OD value of ChineseMedicinesarm was significantly higher than the control arm(P<0.05).(2) The incident rateof neurotoxicity in Chinese Medicines arm was 18.8% and 37.8% in the control arm.P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant.(3) Improvement in the quality of life in 43 (62.3%) cases with the Chinese Medicinesarm and improvement in the quality of life in 25 patients in control arm, accounted for49.0%. P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant.(4) The RR of Chinese Medicinesand control arm were 40.6% and 35.3% respectively. Chi-square test on the two groupshad no significant difference, P>0.05.(5) The differences between the bone marrowtoxicity and liver-kidney toxicity in the general toxic of two arms were not statisticallysignificant, p>0.05.Conclusion: FOLFOX treatment of advanced gastrointestinal cancer and theapplication with GuiLong TongLuo Fang significantly low the oxaliplatin neurotoxicity,and it is more conducive to raising the quality of life of patients. There is no significantimpact on the efficacy of chemotherapy, and will not to increase the general toxicity ofchemotherapy. |
