Objective: To analysis and evaluate the clinical features of viral hepatitis in old patients for the clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods: Clinical data of 360 patients in our hospital during the last five years were collected, and the clinical manifestations, viral hepatitis, diagnosis, complications and the laboratory data were taken for the clinical analysis. Results: (l)The general symptoms and signs were common in old patients with viral hepatitis, such as jaundice, abdominal enlargement, abdominal pain, edema, liver palms, spider telangiectasia, nausea, vomiting, cough, and vomiting of blood; (2)Hepatitis B and C were common in old patients with viral hepatitis. The hepatitis A (2%) was rare in old patients with the viral hepatitis, However, super-infection (13%) was common, especially, HBV/HCV super-infection (62%) was common; (3)Our study shows that liver cirrhosis , severe hepatitis and cholestatic hepatitis were 38%, 21% and 11 % among viral hepatitis in old patients, respectively, and decompensated liver cirrhosis was common; (4)The complications and other diseases were common. The carcinoma, the electrolyte disorder and the bacterial infection were 35%, 31% and 26% among the viral hepatitis in old patients, respectively. The fatality rate was 10%; (5)The liver function tests show that the alkaline phosphatase andγ- gultamyl transferase were increased significantly. Conclusion: In our study, we find that there were a lot of clinical features among most of viral hepatitis in old patients, such as severe hepatitis, complications, heavy jaundice, high fatality rate and bad prognosis.
