Objctive: Trying to develop a steel-wire elasticity splint. The steel-wire elasticity splint is made up mainly steel-wire, It have been engineered by our on the basis of traditional chinese medical theory, ln the study ,the purpuse is to approach performance of the steel-wire elasticity splint by its biomechanics test and clinical research in order to provide a theoritical basis for clinical application.Methods:1. The biomechanics test: 6 series of the new Steel-wire elasticity splints and 6 series of the willow splints were divided into 6 groups randomly;under inequality strength effectiveness, length wise offset and residue offset were applied to the splints, separately, with the corresponding of curve chart have been drew to compare two kinds of splint on the biomechanics.2. The clinical research: 60 cases with Colle' s were randomly divided into 2 groups; the steel-wire elasticity splint group, the willow splint group, each 30 cases. After reposition and fixation, fixation effect measuring with X -rays were evaluated in 2 groups after 4 weeks, function recovery were evaluated in 2 groups after 4 weeks and 8 weeks. How much have been advance in the time of facture healing which was as the standardization of evaluation curative effect ,and to compare clinic curative effect.Results: 1. The results of the biomechanics test: The steel-wire elasticity splint in the Intensity was much greater than the willow splints(P<0.05, P<0.01). but there was no singnifiance in the elasticity (P>0.05) between the steel-wire elasticity splint group and the willow splints group.2. The clinical research: the fixation effect and the function recovery in the steel-wire elasticity splint group were good more than the willow splints group(P<0.05, P<0.01),but there was no singnifiance in the curative effect(P>0.05) between the steel-wire elasticity splint group and the willow splints group.Conclusions: The character of the steel-wire elasticity splint is stable and it could effectively keep fixation stability and promote facture healing as well as function recovery , according with principle of fracture treatment, it is a perfect external fixation system .according with principle of fracture treatment.MesH Terms: splint/utilization; Colle' s fracture; biomechanics/statistics and numerical data;...
