CT 3-D Reconstruction And Anatomy Of Frontal Recess

Objective: To study 3-D reconstruction of frontal recess by high speed spiral CT and approach the anatomy of Frontal Recess, which can be reference to nasal endoscopic frontal sinus operation. Methods: 3-D reconstruction 51 cases frontal recess by TOSHIBA 16 line high speed spiral CT. Observe the structure of frontal recess by VITRA 2 software. Results: All cases of CT 3-D reconstruction of frontal recess display the frontal sinus, frontal endostoma and frontal recess. Conclusion: The shape of frontal recess varied in every cases obviously, it depends on the near structures especially the agger nasi and uncinate process. Agger nasi can be anatomic landmark of frontal sinus operation. The scalloped area from anterior nasal spine 50-60°to the line of Aeby' s plane and within 100mm radius is safety section to nasal endoscopic frontal sinus operation.3-D reconstruction of frontal recess can be important guidance to nasal endoscopic frontal sinus operation.
