Male-pattern Alopecia (MPA) is a gradualness alopecia of calvaria, temporal and forehead, is liable to occur male between 20 to 40, it is a common skin disease in clinic, has high incidence. Modern medical technique believe it is a hereditary disease depanding on androgen, the occurence mechanism is not quite clear yet. Modern medical technique believe it is mainly related with metabolizability multiply of androgen, or heighten of 5-αredoxin. Tradictional chinese medcine believe that MPA is cause by liver-kidney asthenia, deficiency of essence and blood, damp heat and stasis of blood. Modern medicine has many methods to treat MPA, Finasteride is the representative drug. Tradictional chinese medicine also works. My tutor Prof. Zhu Qijie has accumulated a wealth of experience in treatment of MPA with TCM, and acquire notable clinical efficacy.ObjectiveDiscuss the clinical efficacy of the treatment on MPA in differentiation of TCM base on Tonifying-hair Decoction No. 1.MethodThe research is prospective study, semi-random control trial was conducted.By collects the medical literature, we comprehend chinese and western medicines Current Situation, induce the pathogenic factors and pathogenesis of MPA, associated the clinical experience of Prof Zhu Qijie, Summary that Tonifying-hair Decoction No. 1 is efficient on treating MPA, observe the clinical effect compare with Finasteride.All case came from out-patients of the first hospital affiliated to Guangzhou university of TCM, divided into two groups, all patients were male. 60 patients in therapy group were treated by Tonifying-hair Decoction No.1, 38 patients in control group were treated by Finasteride. The patients in the two groups were all treated with topical herbal preparation Xiao Ban Ding. Improve of alopecia and condiction of hair-growing of two groups after 3 months and 6 months' treatment, decreases of oily-hair, head itching and quantity of scurf after 6 months' treatment was observed and evaluated. Bad reaction during the course of treatment was also recorded.ResultsComparing age, course of disease and degree of alopecia, there was no obvious difference between the two groups, patients in both groups were well matched. The curative effect of the control group was better than that of the trearapy group compared 3 months after the treatment (P<0.05); The curative effect of the two groups were similar compared 6 months after the treatment (P>0.05). compare before and after 6 months' treatment decreases of oily-hair, head itching and quantity of scurf of two groups, trearapy group was obviously better than that of the control group (P<0.05). No bad reaction was found and no appearience of sexual function decrement in both groups. Patients of trearpy group felt that their body condiction improved distinctly, including energy, sleep and appetite, the same condiction didn't appeare on patients of control groups.ConclusionThe research have proved that traditional Chinese medicine treat MPA effective and safe. The react time of trearapy group was longer than control group, but with the treating time prolongs, the clinical curative effect of trearapy group increase distinctly. Differentiations of TCM possess better improvement with main clinical adjoint symptoms of MPA, can significantly improve the life quality of MPA patients.
