Objective:Interleukin-15(IL-15),Interleukin-16(IL-16) were a kind of cytokines those discovered recently. To investigate the changes of interleukin-15 and interleukin-16 in serum from patients with chronic hepatitis B. And to explore the relations between serum interleukin-15,interleukin-16 levels and liver damage, the replication of hepatitis B virus in patients with chronic hepatitis B.Methods:1.The serum levels of IL-15 and IL-16 were detected by ELISA respectively in 95 patients with chronic hepatitis B and the 28 normal controls.2.The hepatitis virus of antigen-antibodies were detected by ELISA in the patients with chronic hepatitis B and the normal controls.3.Hepatic function was detected by the automatic biochemistry analysator in all the objects.4.Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR was used to measure the HBV DNA.5.Automatic coagulation analyzer was used to measure the serum prothrombin activity.Results:1.The serum levels of IL-15 in the mild chronic hepatitis B,the moderate chronic hepatitis B, the serious chronic hepatitis B and the normal controls were 64.369±12.655,61.970±18.741,171.457±70.192,19.928±9.845. The serum levels of IL-15 in the viral hepatitis group were significantly higher than those of control group(p<0.01). But there was not any difference between the mild chronic hepatitis B and the moderate chronic hepatitis B group (p>0.05).The difference between the serum IL-15 levels of other every two groups was significant(p<0.01). The serum levels of IL-16 in the mild chronic hepatitis B,the moderate chronic hepatitis B,the serious chronic hepatitis B and the normal controls were 1.428±0.429,1.751±0.489 ,5.904±2.737,1.208±0.374. There was not any difference between the mild chronic hepatitis B and the control group (p>0.05). The difference between the serum IL-16 levels of other every two groups was significant(p<0.05).2.The objects were dividatured the four groups according to the value of alanine aminotransferase(ALT): a group-ALT≤50U;b group-50U500U. The serum levels of IL-15 in every group were 19.928±9.845,67.081±20.980,74.237±35.256,130.513±89.508. There was difference between a group and b,c,d groups (p<0.05). The difference between the serum IL-15 levels of other every two groups was not significant(p>0.05). The serum levels of IL-16 in every group were 1.208±0.374,1.876±1.009,2.231±1.418,4.154±2.811. The difference between a group and b,c,d groups was significant(p<0.01). There was difference between b group and d group (p<0.05). The diff- ereence between the serum IL-16 levels of other every two groups was not significant(p>0.05).3. The patients with chronic hepatitis B were dividatured the three groups according to HBV DNA: low virus load group<105 copy/ml, 105 0.05). The serum levels of IL-16 in every group were 3.071±2.381,2.850±2.200,2.082±1.226. There was not any difference between the serum IL-16levels of every two groups (p>0.05).Conclusions:1. IL-15 and IL-16 maybe participate in liver inflammatory injury process in patients with chronic hepatitis B.2. The serum IL-15 in chronic hepatitis B was not related to the replication of hepatitis B virus.3. The serum IL-16 in chronic hepatitis B was not related to the replication of hepatitis B virus.
