The genus Calophyllum of the Guttiferae family is a kind of everygreen plant, mostgrowing in the damp tropic jungle. Its leaves were used for curing occulusion diseases, trauma bleed, punch injury, and rheumatism. A few overseas scholars have alreadyconducted some studies to determine the chemical constituents in the leaves, stem, roots, skin, and seeds of the genus Calophyllum of the Guttiferae family, and thus havesuccessfully extracted chemical compounds such as coumarins, xanthonoids, flavonoids, and terpenoids etc. Among these, xanthonoids are capable of repelling tumor,anti-flammation and anti-bacterium, and enhancing acetylate zyme and controlling lipoidperoxidase, the coumarins bear the biological activities to deaden the growth andreproduction of HIV, flavonoids have the activities of curing rheumatism and dermatitis.Based on reviewing the investigation of chemical constituents and their biologicalactivities of The genus Calophyllum of the Guttiferae family, We mainly introduce thechemical constituents research of C. polyanthum Wall. et Choisy.Eight compounds were found from this plant, they are Friedelin (1),(4S,5R,14S,17S,13R,9S)-4,5,14,17,20,20,13,9-octamethyl-octadecahydrochryseno[2,1-c]oxepin-3(4H,14H,10H)-one(2),friedelinol(3),3-epi-betulinic acid(4),α-amyrin(5),β-sitosterol (6),Canolide E2 (7),6,6-dimethyl-13a-(2α,3β-H)-13a-(2-hydroxy-3-methyl-1,4-pentandione)-8b-hydroxy-4-phenyl-pyranodihydrocoumarin(8). Compound2 and compound 8 were first isolated from natural product. The structrure of compound 2was elucidated based on X-ray. The structure of Compound 8 was elucidated by variousspectral data, especially 2D-NMR.Additionally, We report the constituents of EtOAc extract through GC-MS, andeinghteen constituents have been identified. Finally, we find that compound 2 has effectsof promotion on proliferation of bMMSCs.
