Objective: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the expression levels of HMGB1 in different types of endothelia and analyze the relationship its expression with the occurrence and development of endometrial carcinoma(EC). Method: HMGB1 expression was examined by immumohistochemical technique (sp method ) in 22 cases of endometrial carcinoma, 9 cases of secretory endometrium, 10 cases of follicular endometrium. Results: The positive-expression rate in EC(72.7%) is higher significantly than that in normal endothelia (15.8%)(P<0.05). The expression of HMGB1 in EC was associated with the depth of myometrial tumor invasion. The positive-expression rate of I a phase(50%) was significantly lower than the phase that myometrial tumor invasion exceed 1/2 layer of muscle(P<0.05). However, in this study we did nor found a significative relationship of the expression of HMGB1 and histologic grade of EC. But we found the expression of HMGB1 is significantly higher in EC combining high risk factors(90.9%) than the negative group(54.5%) (P<0.05).Conclusions: The expression of HMGB1 was up-regulation in endometrial carcinoma, it might contribute to the pathogenesis of EC .Inordinate expression of HMGB1 might contributed to the diagnosis and prognosis of EC.
