According to the US statistics, the infectious shock death caused by urinary infection was ranked no. 3, till now, it is still one of most serious threats for human health. Ever since recent years, bacterial biofilm was the hotspot for international research. According to the reports of literature, bacterial biofilm was reported to be existed in 60% of the nosocomial infections, which usually occurred at the pipe and implant, such as the double j stents used in urology. Under the protection of biofilm, the resistant capability of bacteria to antibiotic is 1000 times higher than the bacteria dissociated frombiofilm. Furthermore, there is no definite solution for the formation of biofilm. Till now, as the only solution for this, antibiotic was introduced for the defence of such kind of formation. Proved by domestic out-body research, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the category of Qing Re Jie Du has decent restraint and elimination function for the pathogeny like bacteria, virus and etc. The.ingredient of TCM is complex, and the diversity of its anti-bacteria system may make it as the perfect medicine for the elimination of colonization bacteria, which exists in the biofilm and possesses drug resistance gene. As a result, the broad-spectrum antibiosis and no drug resistance of TCM has the extraordinary advantage. Therefore, serious study of the influence from the TCM to the biofilm could not only provide a new theory for TCM anti-bacteria system, but also enlarge the application range of TCM in the perioperative period, furthermore, it could enhance the function of TCM in such period.ObjectiveObserving the influence of TCM to the biofilm on the double j stents surface after operation; researching the function and curative effect evaluation of TCM in biofilm restraint.MethodSelecting 40 cases of patients from 2006 who had double j stents after ureteroscopic lithotomy(URL) operation as a randomized controlled clinical trial. Randomized them into four groups, i. e. blank group, TCM group, antibiotic group, TCM + antibiotic group. After four weeks different therapy, pull out the double j stents, pretreating it, and also making it as pathological slice and observing it by scanning electron microscope, then using statistic analyse and rating, at last serious studying the influence from the TCM to the biofilm by analysis of variance.ResultsUsing SNK-q inspection to analyze group difference, as a result, TCM group has no significant difference with antibiotic group (P>0.05). The differences were reported to be existed between blank group and TCM group, blank group and antibiotic group, blank group and TCM + antibiotic group, TCM group and TCM + antibioticgroup, antibiotic group and TCM + antibiotic group (P<0.0.)。Conclusion1. TCM has effect on the protection of bacterial biofilm formation.2. TCM and antibiotic have the similar effect on the protection of bacterial biofilm formation.3. Combination of TCM with western medicine enhance the restraint function on bacteria biofilm.
