The XML-based Computerized Patient Record System

CPRS as an important sign of HIS conversion from MIS to clinic information system, is centered on patient information to improve the quality of medical treatment and service, deduce medical mistake and accidence in hospital daily work. The application of CPR will help to enhance whole management of hospital, embody the management ideal of "central on patient "and play a critical role in the building of hospital informationalization.In an open and self-description way, XML (extensible Markup Language) defines the data structure as well as the content and structure, as it denotes the relationship between data. There are expansibility, readability, platform-independent and structure virtues in XML. At the same time, there is a set of standard technology architecture in relation to XML application. XML is useful to describe half-structured data such cases, and CPR based on XML corresponds to Internet, which make it possible to share medical data.Based on full illumination of CPR conception and content, this paper starts from the common problems existed in recently research of CPR, analysis and designs the system on XML-based CPR. It solves the problem of the compilation of data, designing the editor of patient record and realizing the incorporation of the input method of the form-type and free-type. The vision problem of patient record is solved, too. The problem of storing and retrieving data includes the conversion of XML document and relational data base and the retrieval of XML based relational data base. In the end, this paper analyses the security system in detail. Against these problems, the paper proceed monolithic pattern design of CPRS. Thereby, ready is made for the clinical application of CPRS.While this paper focus on its practical use, it also has in-depth research on its theoretical issue and pays attention to introduce and put into use the lastest knowledge and technology on the electronic medical chart from china and abroad into our system. This brings a set of scientific and effective manage methods to the hospital electronic medical chart system.
