Soybean, the seed of Clycine max (L.) Merr, is abundant in protein, carbohydrate, vitamin, lecitine, soyasaponin and soyisoflavone. Soyisoflavone in soybean is a kind of naturally vegetative estrogen, and has some strong physiological activities, such as regulation of estrogen and cell cycle, elimination of active oxygen and the effect of antioxydation, inhibition of activity of enzymes associated with tumor. Soyasaponin has been demonstrated that soyasaponin contributes to the metablisms of chelesterol and fat, decreases the production of peroxolipid in human body, prevents the body from rays, protects liver, prevents and cures thrombus, and has therapeutic effects on hyperlipemia, hypertension and arteriosclerosis. Soyasaponin and isoflavone possess little toxic effect. Otherwise, they are two safe substances and will have broad and considerable applications in the future. Objective: soybean compound is a mixture composed of mainly soyasaponin and isoflavone. It also contains some neutritional ingredients of B vitamin, carotene, mineral substances and microelements. In our research, we made an effort to detect the immunoregulatory effects of soybean compound and soyasaponin on mice in vivo. Methods: According to"Evaluating Rules and Test Methodology of The Function of foods of Health Care"and"Pharmacological experimental Methodology", female KMmouse was used in this study, divide the KMmice into four groups at random——test group fed with low dose of soybean compound(30mg/kg.bw); test group fed with high dose of soybean compound(60mg/kg.bw); test group fed with soyasaponin (60mg/kg.bw); and control group fed with the same-volumed solvent. Each group was fed for 30 days, during the days, the weight of each mouse was measured every 5 days and the volume of the feed for each mouse was changed according to the weight. On the 31st day, all the mice of 4 groups were killed to make the following tests: coeliac macrophage phagocyte fowl erythrocyte test, splenic lymphocyte proliferation test, macrophage engulfing carbon granula test, delayed type hypersensitivity test, antibody-produced cell test and serolysin test were applied to evaluate the effects of soybean compound and soyasaponin on the immunoregulation of mice. Results: (1) Low dose soybean compound has no effects on proliferation of splenic lymphocytes, phagocytosis of macrophages and the level of 5-hydroxytryptamine, but contributes to delayed type hypersensitivity and the complement-production by B lymphocytes. (2) High dose of soybean compound can significantly enhance the phagocytosis of macrophages and elevate the level of serum hemolysin, moreover it have positive effects on delayed type hypersensitivity and the complement-production by B lymphocytes. (3) Soyasaponin significantly enhance the phagocytosis of macrophages and the proliferation of splenic lymphocytes and the level of serum hemolysin, moreover it have positive effects on delayed type hypersensitivity and the complement-production by B lymphocytes. Conclusion: Proper dose of either soybean compound or soyasaponin can enhance the non-specific immunity, cellular immunity and humoral immunity of the organism. It's beneficial to defense the attack of phathogens and to prevent the genesis and development of chronic diseases associated with immune injury. Soybean compound and soyasaponin can act as the ingredients of hygienical foods that can enhance the immunity of the body. This study provides proofs from the laboratory for the applications of soybean compound and soyasaponin in the fields of exploitation of hygienical foods and medicines.
