Objective: Osteoarthritis is a chronic and degenerative joint disease which is characterized by progressive loss and reparation and remodeling of articular cartilage. OA was considered as one of the major degenerative diseases which are affecting the quality of life of the public due to population aging. At present in the clinic, the therapeutic methods mostly include medication,non-medication and surgery, but many of them with poisons and side-effects to the elders. So Chinese traditional treatments have turned into the hotspots of which prevent and cure OA. As one of the Chinese traditional treatments, moxibustion is widely used in clinics in China and does well in therapeutic effectiveness with comfort and convenience, and without side effects, but it is hard of international popularization due to undefined mechanisms of action. According to the latest researches, IL-1βand apoptosis are very important in the progress of OA. An experimental observation was made on the basis of the therapeutic effect of moxibustion on rabbit models of knee osteoarthritis made by intra-articular injection of papain. To observe the pathologic form and the chondrocyte apoptosis of articular cartilage and the content of NO,IL-1 in the articular synovial fluid, study the effect of moxibustion in the treatment of osteoarthritis and histo-pathological basic of the clinicaltreatment.Method:27 healthy adult New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups: the group A (normal group) , group B (purely making-model group) and group C (moxibustion treated group),9 for each group. The normal group does not...
