ObjectiveTo investigate the knowledge, attitude, behavior actuality, requirement and problem of clinicians toward medical disputes and find out the influence of medical dispute on clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior. The study aimer to provide sanitation -policy-makers and the medical organization managers with theories. Even in order to standardize the clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior.MethodsWe adopted self-made questionnaires (research of knowledge, attitude and practice in clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior) for random sampling about 200 medical personnels. Using self-made questionnaire (investigations of the causations of medical disputes) to investigate 100 random patients and 48 patients who had dissensions with hospitals we investigated at the same time. We aimed to analyze the influence of medical dispute on clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior and find out the sticking points of the unstandardized behaviors. The main contents of the study included(1)the knowledge, attitude and behavior actuality of clinicians toward medical disputes.(2) the influence of medical dispute on clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior. The research included retrospective and questionnaire investigations.Results1.Finally, 148 valid clinicians' and 84 valid patients' questionnaires were taken back, then the valid recycle rate is 80.4%.and 93.3%.42 valid patients' questionnaires who had had medical disputes with the hospitals were taken back and the valid recycle rate is 80.4%.2.There were some issues in the recognition of the clinicians toward medical disputes.Only 58.8% clinicians thought medical disputes may be guarded against;They have a low recognition of medical disputes also belongs to an issue of medical liability(83.1%) and clinicians is the main trigger for medical disputes (68.9%) and "malpractice statute"for about (64.9%). The clinicians generally thought they were unrespectable in society, which were higher in the group of patients. And the outcome of the medical disputes group were lower than the clinicians out of medical disputes.The factors of sex, education degree, hospital level and experienced medical dispute or not ,etc. had effected the score of KAP.3.The influence of medical dispute on clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior: the scores of the medical disputes group(31.9167±3.51629) were lower than the clinicians out of medical disputes(33.7500±3.49646)(t=2.733, P=0.007);the scores of male were lower than that of the female in the two groups, hading significant difference(P<0.05);the sex, length of service, hospital level and experienced medical dispute or not ,etc. were the influential factors on the clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior.Conclusions1.The cognition of the clinicians toward medical disputes had some faults and were influenced by the length of service, age and hospital level ect. Urgently needing the propaganda and training to prevent medical disputes.2.There were serious negative influence of medical disputes on the mentality and behavior of the clinicians. Promoting its unstandardized diagnosis and treatment behavior and demanding the social from all walks to concern them comprehensively.
