Objective:The aim of this study was to determine the factors of knowledge, attitude, and practice of nurses ICUs on preventing Medical Device-Related Pressure Injury(MDRPI)in Gansu Province. Methods:The study used quantitative research combined with qualitative research method to analysis its influencing factors of knowledge, attitude and practiceof nurses ICUs on preventing MDRPI in Gansu Province. It includes two parts:(1)A quantitative analysis of its influencing factors of knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses ICUs on preventing MDRPI in Gansu Province:A total of 1,002 nurses in ICUs from 37 hospitals in Gansu Province,China, participated in this study.Nurses’ knowledge, attitudes and practice were assessed using Clinical Nurses Prevention Medical Device Related Pressure Injury of Critically Ill Patients for the Knowledge,Attitude,Practice Assessment Scale.SPSS software version 25.0 and independent t-test,one-way Analysis of variance, and multiple linear regressions tests were used for data analysis.(2)A qualitative analysis of its influencing factors of knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses ICUs on preventing MDRPI in Gansu Province: Purposive sampling was used, and a total of 15 ICU nurses enrolled.Face-to-face and phone interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide.A thematic analysis was performed to analyse the qualitative data.Results:(1)The results of quantitative researchshowed: The scores of overall KAP,knowledge, attitudes, and practice were 149.17±24.62,53.83±12.23,37.24±6.35 and 58.10 ±9.83,respectively.The results of ANOVA showed that there were significant differences in knowledge among ICU nurses of age, level of hospital, type of hospital, work experiences, position, highest educational attainment. The results of ANOVA showed that there were significant differences in attitude among ICU nurses of: age, level of hospital, type of hospital, work experiences, technical title, positions, highest educational attainment. The results of ANOVA showed that there were significant differences in practice among ICU nurses of: level of hospital, work experiences, technical title, highest educational attainment. The results of Path analysis demonstrate that the coefficient of influence of ‘level of hospital’ on the dependent variable ‘knowledge score’ is 0.148(P<0.05),the coefficient of influence of ‘highest educational attainment’ on the dependent variable ‘attitude score’ is 0.074(P<0.05),the influence coefficients of the predictive variables ‘workexperiences’ and ‘highest educational attainment’ on the dependent variable ‘behavior score’ are 0.080(P<0.05),0.055(P<0.05).There was a obvious and positive relationship between knowledge and attitude(P<0.001).By increasing the knowledge score, attitude scores were also increased. At the same time, knowledge and practice also had a obvious and positive relationship(P<0.001),which reported that increased knowledge score would increased practice score. At the same time, attitude and practice had a obvious and positive relationship(P<0.001),which reported that increased attitude score would increased practice score.(2)The results of qualitative research showed:Three themes emerged regarding the factors of ICU nurses in Gansu Province to prevent MDRPI knowledge:(1)Different forms of learning knowledge,(2)ICU nurses’ hindrances in MDRPI prevention knowledge,(3)The knowledge needs of nurses are consistent with the learning content.Three themes emerged regarding the factors of ICU nurses in Gansu Province to prevent MDRPI attitude:(1)The cognitive of ICU nurses are differentabout MDRPI,(2)The clinical responsibility andempathy on ICU nurses,(3)Influences from a role mode.Three themes emerged regarding the factors of ICU nurses in Gansu Province to prevent MDRPI practice:(1)The realization of self-worth affects the practice of ICU nurses to prevent MDRPI,(2)ICU nurses prevent MDRPI practice from being affected by different obstacles,(3)Effective supervision and assessment system promotes ICU nurses to prevent MDRPI practice. Conclusion:The level of knowledge, attitude and practice of nurse in ICUs on preventing MDRPI were acceptable. The findings of the study highlight that a comprehensive approach should be conducted to raising the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice of nurses ICUs on preventing medical MDRPI,as well as improving the quality of care for critically ill patients.
