Objective:To investigate the memory characteristics, daugerous factor and the syndromes defined by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in mild cognitive impairment (MCI).Methods: Memory and cognitive function were assessed using Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE).The aMCI cases were assessed by the Delayed Paragraph Story Recall Examination(DPR).The performances in MMSE were compared between the patients with MCI and normal elderly. The carry out function was determined using CTD.A syndrome scale was used to diagnose the syndromes of subjects. The diagnosis of MCI,AD was made according to Petersen's criteria, NINCDS-ADRDA,respectively.Results1. The MCI group performed significantly worse on the compute function with the attention of MMSE compared with the NCS group, and the MCI group had a significant lower MMSE total score than the NCS group. But there was no significant difference in delayed recall subtest of MMSE.2. There was statistically significant difference in CDT scores between MCI and NCS.The MCI group had a significant lower CDT score than those of the NCS group.3. The MCI groups had higher level of the average constringenay expects blood pressurethan NCS group, and lower level of the average cultural degree.4. The MCI groups had higher frequencies of syndromes of Deficiency of kidney Qi,Phlegm and Blood stasis than NCS group, and lower frequency of single syndrome and higherfrequency of complex syndromes.Suggestions:The MCI subjects were characterized by the impairment on compute function with the attention and carry out function.MMSE and CDT may be related with memory and cognitive impairment in the MCI patients. Deficiency of kidney Qi, Phlegm and Blood stasis may play more important role in MCI, syndromes defined by TCM of which was more complex than that of NCS.
