Objective: To observe the clinical effect of manual reduction and external fixation of type II,III Pilon fracture. Methods: 102 cases according with the observation standard were divided randomly into treatment group(47 patients) and control group(55 patients). The treatment group were treated with manual reduction and external fixation. The control group were treated with open reduction and internal fixation. Result: The excellent and good rates of the two groups are almost the same. The treatment group showed less delayed union, less infetion and skin necrosis than the controll group.Conclusion: Clinical analysis of these cases showed that manual reduction and external fixation was a better option for the patients with type II,III Pilon fracture. It had advantages of less trauma , shorter healing time and less complication than open reduction and internal fixation.
