Objective: To explore the influence of insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) on newborn rats with hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) .Methods: IGF-1 dosage (1.5ug/kg) was adminiatrated separately to the rat pups 30 minutes before and immediately following the hypoxic exposur. Then we tested the changes of prostaglandin metabolites in the brain, TXB2, 6-K-PGF1α.Result: The level of 6-K-PGF1 TXB2 content in the brain of HIBD increased significantly compared with normal group . 6-K-PGF1α is 22.23 ±5.95 (pg/mg.pr), TXB2 is 13.67 ± 2.35 (pg/mg.pr) ,P<0.001. the level of 6-K-PGF1α content in the brain of IGF-1 be for group is 1.4.75±7.68(pg/mg.pr), which increased significantly compared with HIBD, P<0.001, TXB2 is insignificant. The level of 6-K-PGF1αcontent in the brain of IGF-1 immidiate group is 25.53±5.31 (pg/mg.pr), which is insignificant, the level of TXB2 content in the brain of IGF-limmidiate group is 16. 55±2.83(pg/mg.pr), which increased siginificantly compared with HIBD.Conclusions: IGF-1 has effect for the brain of newborn rat with HIBD on the level of TXB2 and 6-K-PGF1α, especialy use before.
