| Abstract: Objective: To study the function of the extractions of Perilla Frutescens and Rhubarb in preventing and curing the intima hyperplasia of Rat's Carotid Artery after Being Squeezed. Methods: The healthy SD rats were divided into three groups at random, the control group, the model cluster and the experimental group which included the aspirin row, the Rhubarb row, the Perilla Frutescens stalks row, the Perilla Frutescens leaves row and the Perilla Frutescens seeds row. Excluding the control group, the intima hyperplasia models were founded in the other two clusters. Thirty days later, the observations of thehistomorphology and the structure were carried out on the left and the right carotid arteries of each rat. And that the statistical analysis was proceeded through the ways HE stain, VG stain and imagine analysis. Results: 1, Comparing with control group, the intima hyperplasia of the left carotid artery was obvious in the model cluster. The vessel cavity filled With vascula endothelial cells. The thicking took place in the wall of the artery where a lot of elastic fibers and collagenous fibers deposited mussily. 2, The structure of the wall of the artery in the aspirin row was like nearly with that in the model cluster. The normal texture of the wall of the artery disappeared. The vessel cavity filled with vascula endothelial cells too. There was no significant difference in both the ratio of area medium and intima and the ratio of area cavity (P>0.05). 3, Comparing with the model cluster, the intima hyperplasia of the left carotid artery was eased obviously in the rows treated with the extractions of Perilla Frutescens and Rhubarb. The wall of the carotid artery thinned, and the vascular smooth muscle of the tunica media and the elastic fibers arranged in the wall regularly. The tunica adventitia was made of connective tissue.
