Clinical Study Of Acupoints Plaster Application For Simple Obesity

Obesity refers to the overweight disease caused by overaccumulation of fat when absorption of energy is more than its consumption. Those occurred not after confirmed endocrinopathy is named as simply obesity. Many researching in traditional Chinese medicine have been done before those effective methods were summarized in recent years. Among those methods, acupoint application, which means plaster Chinese herb on acupoints, and which can combine the function of drugs and acupuncture, is one of the focus.Objective : This subject is to prove the validity, security and propagability of plaster application, and provide the proof based on evidence for the treatment of obesity by forward looking randomly control test research.Method: The diagnostic criteria is based on the 5th Conference on Obesity in 1997. 108 cases were divided into two group randomly, and there were 58-case in treat group, 60-case in control group. The recipe of treat group contain Zhinanxing, Dahuang, Sanleng, Ezhu and Bingpian. The acupoints include Zhongwan, Guangyuan, Qihai, Tianshu, Shuidao, Daheng. Dry and pulverize above drugs, mix in proper of 3 : 3 : 3 : 1, then whisk with glycerin to make it into paste, finally cut into 1.5×1. 5cm~2 in size, 0. 3cm in thickness, paste on above acupoints, fix it with adhesive plaster. Keep it on the skin for 6 to 8 hours once day. The cases of control group oral Congrong Tongbian Koufuye with the frequency of three times each day. Evaluate the total efficiency after seven days.Result : There were 10-case cured, 27-case were significantly improved, 12-case were in effect and 9-case were non-effective among 58-case in treat group, and the total effective rate is 84. 48%;and there were 8-case cured, 22-case were significantly improved, 13-case were in effect, 7-case werenon-effective among 50-case in control group, and the total effective rate is 86. 00%. There were no significant difference between two groups (p>0. 05) .Those obesity index such as body weight, body mass index(BMI),waist and hip line decreased significantly after the courses of treatment, and the degree of two groups is same. The waist hip rate(WHR)did not change before and after the study. The syndrome integral of two groups decreased after the treatment with the same degree too. Those biochemical index did not change besides the glucose(Glu) of treat group descended.Conclusion: The plaster application of Chinese Herb on acupoints possesses these predominance: flexible diagnosis and treatment on the basis of an overall analysis of the illness and the patient' s condition supervised by traditional Chinese medicine theory, the function of both Chinese herb and acupuncture, besides of the predominance of general external treatment. This method possess definite curative effect in the treatment of obesity, and it is a sort of effective, immediate .innocuous ,and propagable method.
