Objective: Arteriosclerosis plaque model induced by high cholesterol diet supplemented by immunological injury in rabbits were used to evaluate inhibitive effects of different doses of Jingtian Tongmai Fang (JTTMF)on the progression of aortic athescloretic plaque. Methods: New Zealand albino rabbits fed a diet containing cholesterol supplemented by a injection of bovine serum albumin (BSA) were randomly divided into six groups: high cholesterol group (model) and JTTMF treated group (low: 1.29g/kg/day, medium: 2.57 g/kg/day and high: 5.14 g/kg/day for 12 weeks, respectively),Xuezhikang treated group, 9 Standard diet rabbits were selected as normal control. At the end of experiment, blood samples were collected to assess serum lipids and C-reactive protein. Intima-media thickness (IMT) and Plaque- intima ratio (PIR) were also calculated. Results: Compared with the high cholesterol group, Significant decrease in TC, LDL,TG level was also observed (P <0.05). In the medium dosage JTTMF treatment group, the decrease in the above parameters were significantly lower than those in the low and high dosage groups (P <0.05). No significant differences between the low and high treatment groups and Xuezhikang treated group were observed (P >0.05). Significant increase in HDL level was also observed in the Xuezhikang treated group and high dosage groups...
