Objective: To assess the PGE2 levels in tissues and peripheral blood of patients with gastric cancer and to discuss their clinical significance. Method: The PGE2 levels in tissues of tumor, tumor margins of excision and peripheral blood of 20 patients with gastric cancer were measured by a kit of PGE2 ELISA.Result: The PGE2 levels were higher in tissues of gastric cancer than that of tumor margins of excision (8.225±2.425\1.669±0.287ng/g , P<0.001). The PGE2 levels in tissues of low and mid-high differentiation gastric cancer were respectively 9.02±2.28ng/g and 5.38±0.35ng/g, which were statistically significant (P<0.05). The PGE2 levels in peripheral blood positively correlated to that in tissue of gastric cancer (r=0.889,P<0.001). The PGE2 levels of peripheral blood between the tumor size of more than 5cm and that of less than 5cm were statistically significant (P<0.05), which were 121.15±38.31pg/ml and 78.475±23.76pg/ml. The PGE2 levels in peripheral blood between low and mid-high differentiation gastric cancer were also statistically significant (P<0.05), which were 115.5±39.17pg/ml...
