Objective To investigate the morbidity of urinary incontinence (UI) in adult females in Tai -Yuan area with statistic survey of epidemiologic data and to assess the incidence and risk fact -ors of UI in this area , providing basis to the prevention and treatment of such a desease. Methods Taking questionnaires survey for female residents(age≥18) in TaiYuan District at random .The questionnaires used are of symptoms of female urinary incontinence, including some questions such as: general condition; factors associated with parturition; UI suffering condition(age;inducing factors; accompanied symptoms such as urgent micturition, frequent micturition, dysuria, nocturia etc and frequency and so on; other symptoms of suburinary tract; the effects on daily life of patients; with medical diseases or not; the cognition and conditions of attending to hospital etc). Employing the x2 test to analyse the incidence of every factor and composing ratios , Adopting univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis to calculate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(CI). Ascertain the risk factors associated with UI. All the data are processed with SPSS 10.0.Results: 97%(776/800)of questionnaires are collected eventually, 744 cases enrolled in. The morbidity of UI is 49.3%, in which stress type accounts for 31.6%, urgent type 5.91%,mixed type 11.8%,respectively occupying 64%,12% and 24% in total incidence. The morbidity of UI is 24.5% in undelivery Women ,54.3% in transvagina delivery women and 40% in caesarean section. Multivariate results indicate that age (OR:6.517;95%CI:4.323~9.824),perineum tear(OR:1.981 ; 95%CI:1.019~3.850),menopause(OR:2.299;95%CI:1.291~4.093), constipation(OR:5.405 ;95%CI:2.300~12.702)are the risk factors. Caesarean section before parture(OR:0.532;95%CI:0.335~0.843) is a protective factor. Analysis of interaction between factors shows that: there is evidence of interaction during menopause , perineum tear and constipation .There is conspiracy between menopause and perineum tear(S=1.31,API=0.17), perineum tear and constipation(S=1.41,API=0.21).Conclusion: females have a high morbidity of UI, the occurrence of which is associated with many factors, particularly osculated with age, perineum tear , menopause and constipation etc. Caesarean section before parture is a protective factor.
