Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of common serum biochemical indexes for pathological grading and staging of chronic hepatitis. Methods: In a retrospective study, the activity of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma-glutamy (GGT), Albumin (Alb), total bilirubin (TBil), prothrobin time (PT) was measured by analyzer in 142 patients were diagnosed as chronic hepatitis with needle biopsy of liver. Results: the levels of serum ALT, AST, TBil, Alb, PT in different grading had significant differences. Alb, PT in different staging had significant differences. The level of serum ALT, AST, TBil, PT was positively related to pathological grading significantly, The level of PT was positively related to pathological staging significantly (r=0.328),The level of serum Alb was negatively related pathological grading and staging significantly(r= - 0.332, r= - 0.390). Conclusions: common serum biochemical indexes ALT, AST, Alb, Tbil, PT can reflect histological inflammatory activity, and Alb, PT allow estimation of the extend of fibrosis in chronic hepatitis.
