Objective (1) In order to investigate prevalence and related dangerous factors about cervical neoplasia and precancerous lesion in Huixian County of Gansu, which can provide reference to the prevention and cure of cervical neoplasia in Gansu province. (2) Evaluating the feasibility and practicability of the modified Reid's colposcopic index which be used to check out cervical neoplasia and precancerous lesion in female population. Methods 1000 reproductive women were random selected as investigate object at Huixian County, Southeast of Gansu. They were investigated by epidemiologic questionnaire and received general gynecologic examination. Then we observed their cervix in virtue of colposcope and pathological diagnosis. Results (1) Total detection rate of HPV is 59.60%. (2) Detection rate of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (including CIN â…¡ & â…¢) is 5.3%. Infectious rate is 87.64% in cases of neoplasia and CIN while detection rate is 49.39% in normal population. (3) Comparing RCI with pathological outcome, coincidence rate is 80.90%. Including one grade deviation, the agreement rate is 98.60%. While sensitivity is 87.17%, specificity was 85.17%. Kappa is 0.581 with Kappa test. Conclusions (1) HPV is one of main factors for cervical neoplasia. Hygiene manner is associated with HPV infection. (2) The modified Reid's colposcopic index has a high agreement with pathology and can be used in female population health investigation. (3) Suggestion: In order to improve the local hygiene situation and life style, more attention related health knowledge and education is needed evenly. Screening of HPV infection for female population would contribute greatly to prevent and reduce the occurrence of cervical neoplasia.
