Introduction:Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a common, multifactorial endocrine and metabolic disease, characterized by hyperglycemia. When suffered of DM for a long term, many body systems will be hurt seriously, such as eyes, kidney, nerves, cardiovascular, and a lot of chronic and processing pathological changes will result in failure of function. As for Osteoporosis, its essential characters are low bone content and the destroyed micro-framework which can increase bone brittleness and easily fracture. Ordinarily, we divided Osteoporosis into three Types: Original Osteoporosis, Secondary Osteoporosis, and Special Osteoporosis.In most researches, unlike Type 1 DM that can be confirmed to make osteoporosis, the relationship between Type 2 DM and osteoporosis is not very necessary, neither is the mechanism. Accompany with the prolonged life, the aging society, and the improvement of living, Type 2 DM and osteoporosis occur more and more frequently. Due to the heavy burden that diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis bring to the patients, families and society, the research on diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis attracts a lot of scholars.Objective:The measurement of Bone Mineral Density is the important means to judge bone content and osteoporosis, and it is also the index to estimate the lost of bone mass or the cure effect. In this research, we measured BMD of the proximal femur andsubregions (introchanter, trochanter, femoral neck), and of the lumbar spine usingDXA.Methods:In this research, 93 patients with no consanguinity were selected at random in Shandong district. All the patients were divided into such groups: (1) T2DM group: According to the revising diagnosis standard of WHO in 1998, 43 patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled into our research, including 20 men and 23women, The average age was 63.3 ±4.4 and 64.3 + 4.6 years old respectively, and the average body mass index was 26.1+3.0 kg/cm2, 29.6±4.1 kg/cm2;(2) Normal control group (NC group): At the same time,50 health subjects with none-diabetes mellitus were selected at random, including 24 men and 26 women, whose the average age was 62.2 ±5.0 years old and 61.5±5.0 years old respectively, and the BMI was 27.0 + 3.7 kg/cm2, 27.4 + 5.0 kg/cm2. Then we measure the markers as following:(DAnthropometric measures: Including height, weight, femoralline, waistline, hipline, then calculated body mass index.(2) Bone Mineral Density measures and analysis: Use dual energy X-ray absorptiometer to measure BMD of the proximal femur and subregions (introchanter, trochanter, femoral neck) and lumbar spine.(3) Miro-albuminuria measures: Use urine kit to measure Micro-albumin in urine by turbidimetry. The theory is to use microballons as carriers to combine the antibody of anti-human albumin, and the combinations will get together after the immune reaction. Then we make turbidimetries under the visible light between samples and standards. This method is simple, speediness, and with good repetitiveness. Statistical analysis: Statistical analysis system was performed using the SPSS Statistical Software Package(version 10.0).All the numerical data were given as mean+ SD. According to the different investigative aims and data type, we used t-test, x2-test, multiple factor correlation analysis respectively. The significance was defined as a =0.05.Results: There is no statistical difference of BMD between type 2 Diabetes Mellitu and Osteoporosis . Although BMD of proximal femoral and lumbar spines in micro-albuminuria group was lower than that in normal Controls, but had no Statistical differences (P > 0.05 ).Conclusion: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus has not positively the correlations with Osteoporosis...
