Subjective: To investigate clinical value of positron emission tomography and computed tomugraphy, PET/CT on monitoring ovarian malignant tumors .Methods: PET/CT was used to observed the thirty cases of gynecological malignant tumors at before or after of the operation, and the Visual and semiquantitative analyses (standardized uptake value (SUV)) were used to observe the image. The results and its clinical significance of PET/CT studies was compared with t CA125, AFP, CT and histopathologic examination..Results:1 .Eleven cases of cervical cancer were examined by PET/CT before or after operation. Of them, eight cases were positive results of PET/CT who were conformity with the results of pathologic examination and operation, and the coincidence was 100%. In addition three cases were negative results of PET/CT, of them one case was carcinoma in situ by pathologic examination, therefore the false negative rate of PET/CT was 33.3%.Three cases of cervical cancer whose pelvic lymphatic nodes were negative by CT screening, but the results of PET/CT was positive. The sensitivity, accurate rate and specificity on the diagnosis cervical carcinoma were 100%, 91% and 91%,respectively.2.Six cases of endometrial carcinoma were examined by PET/CT before or after operation. Of them, four cases were positive results of PET/CT who were conformity with the results of pathologic examination and operation, and the coincidence was 100%. In addition two cases were negative results of PET/CT that also was coincidence with the results of pathologic examination and operation, therefore the accurate rate of the diagnosis was 100%.One cases of endometrial carcinoma was suspected by curettage of uterine cavity before the operation which was exhibited as endometrial carcinoma Ic and be confirmed by the operation, therefore PET/CT exerted the value of early diagnosis. The sensitivity, accurate rate and specificity on the diagnosis endometrial carcinoma were 100%,100% and 100%,respectively.3.Thirteen case of ovarian cancer were examined by PET/CT before or after operation. Of them, ten cases were positive results of PET/CT who were conformity with the results of pathologic examination and operation, and the coincidence was 100%. In addition three cases were negative results of PET/CT, of them one case was recurrent carcinoma, therefore the false negative rate of PET/CT was 33.3%.Two cases of ovarian cancer who was negative result by CT, but whose results of PET/CT exerted pelvic and para-aorta lymphatic nodes were positive. In addition, one whose CT result was negative before operation, but PET/CT result was positive. Another patient whose PET/CT result was negative, but her serum CA125 level was significant high. The sensitivity, accurate rate and specificity on the diagnosis ovarian carcinoma, were 100%,92% and 92%, respectively. Conclusions: PET/CT conduce to direct the treatment and to evaluate the prognosis of gynecologic tumors before and after operation.
